Streaming Gym-Based Education Presentations

The Intelligent Option offers three separate, fully-referenced slide presentations that provide cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation patients with the critical health information they need to create and maintain a new, healthy lifestyle. However, it’s our approach to presenting this information that makes all the difference for you and your patients.

“We have been using the Intelligent Option in our Cardiac & Pulmonary Rehabilitation gym for over a year. It is such a great way to provide education through an entertaining and professional presentation. Our patients definitely watch it and comment on what they learn”

— Deena Haynes, MS, Assistant Director, Tyler Heart Institute, Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula, Monterey, California

How it Works

The streaming gym-based presentations leverage your patients’ exercise time to teach them the critical information they need to create the new lifestyle required to maintain their health.

Instead of mindlessly watching television or flipping through a magazine while using the treadmill or stationary bicycle, patients learn from watching educational, engaging slides, full of wisdom, trivia-like questions, humor, and motivational quotes. The streaming gym-based presentations build on the education you’re giving your patients, acting as a catalyst to continue the conversation without interruption.

The Exercise Angle

We all know that we are awake and alert when we exercise. New studies are also emerging that suggest that  learning while exercising may increase neural processes that enhance memory activation in older adults (Won et al., 2019). This is another reason to leverage your patients’ time while they are exercising: it’s the perfect time for learning!

Won J, Alfini AJ, Weiss LR, et al. Semantic Memory Activation After Acute Exercise in Healthy Older Adults. J Int Neuropsychol Soc. 2019; 25(6):557-568.

"The Intelligent Option gym-based program has been a game changer in our program. The patients enjoy reading the slides while they exercise. It helps them learn risk factor modification tips and keeps them engaged. It sparks conversations between the patients as well.
We have enjoyed using this in our Cardiac Rehab Program so much and wished we had added it long before now."

The Presentation Slides

Designed specifically for cardiac and pulmonary rehab patients, each slide in the streaming gym-based presentations provides up-to-date information on all of the cardiopulmonary risk factors your patients need to know.

By presenting the material to patients in a fun, engaging way while they exercise, the streaming gym-based presentations build on what you’ve been teaching, and helps patients absorb facts seamlessly. The continuous loop ensures that patients learn essential information for their new lifestyle through simple yet interesting repetition. Slides are automatically updated quarterly to ensure the accuracy of all information presented.

Why it Works

The Intelligent Option works for four simple reasons:

• The language is patient-centered and easy to understand and digest.
• Information is presented in an engaging, fun way.
• Information loops continuously in an unobtrusive, quiet manner so patients learn.
• All the fully-referenced facts reinforce the education you’re providing in your facility.

Make the most of your cardiac and pulmonary patients’ time on the treadmill, stationary bike, and other cardio machines with help from The Intelligent Option.
